Join us for the parent information session to learn about The Banksville Community House Youth Board (BCHYB) and how your middle school or high school student can get involved.   The information session will be an online meeting.  The link and instructions will be sent to those registered prior to the meeting.

The BCHYB is open to all local middle and high school students who are interested in giving back to their community and coming together to engage with their peers.  While the youth board will be advised by BCH board members and parent volunteers; the young people will take responsibility for:

  • Establishing a mission statement and goals that reflect their view of the    community
  • Assessing issues, needs, and interests that impact their youth community
  • Supporting the BCH Board of Directors and BCH scheduled events
  • Encouraging participation and ensuring equality, equity, diversity, and inclusion in their membership and programming

Through participation with the youth board, students will learn about:

  • Fostering active participation and empowerment of young people
  • Community service and volunteer work
  • Project management including how to design, prioritize and complete effective and impactful programs
  • Economics including value, costs, and ensuring financing and profitability of projects and events
  • Non-for-profit organizations, board of director roles, and responsibilities
  • Aspects of marketing including email, social media, and websites
  • Developing strong and collaborative relationships by respecting and honoring differences
